Tunnel Vision

Hi Everyone!

Recently Miss Mariah and I took an aerial silks class, and it was SO fun!  It reminded me that sometimes dancers get tunnel vision and focus 100% energy on dancing, and while that is AWESOME while you are in dance class, it can be nice to take a break once in a while.  Taking a break and trying something new is great for your brain and body and gets you out of your comfort zone.  I’d never done aerial silks before, and it was SO hard, but it felt great to get out there and try something new!  I find that now, since I spend most of my time teaching my own exercises and choreography, it is much more challenging for me to pick up another teacher’s stuff so I try to exercise that part of my brain as much as possible!  Here are some things I really like doing that give me a break from dancing (but still feed my need for movement and music)!

  • Yoga
  • Pilates
  • Working out at home (I don’t belong to a gym, but I like to work out at home-especially upper body workouts to balance out all the leg work we do in dance class!)
  • Running (I am probably the worlds slowest runner, but Andy is patient enough to run with me and I love that it gives us the chance to exercise and spend time together!)
